When I grow up, I hope that the pet shops in Singapore will be able to sell unicorns and other magical creatures for us to keep. I wish every animal will be able to speak human language so that we can understand them, dolphins will be living in the oceans of Singapore, and koalas might even be able to live in Singapore if we create the right kind of habitat for them. I also wish Singapore will have farms for us to visit with cows, lambs, chickens, rabbits, ducks and many more other farm animals. I hope that there should not be too many buildings in Singapore to preserve the nature.

As I dream on for human beings to be able to fly and walk just like birds, I would still like to have airplanes to travel to other countries. While traveling on the airplane, I wish to have a library on the plane filled with books suitable for every passenger from an infant to an old person. I also wish to be able to select any channel that we want to watch on the television, including shows from other countries.

I wish some Singaporeans can invent touch screen computers. Computers will be so flexible that they can be folded into any size and shape to fit into every pocket imaginable. The computer will also be able to function in any shape.

Every year at school, there will be many sports events for students to participate in, but there is no such thing for teachers. So, the schools shall also have sports events for teachers so that the teachers can also have fun. During lesson time, whatever the teacher talks about will come to live. This will only apply to things that will not harm others and is logical. An ideal example would be like this: if we are studying about polar bears, then we will feel cold as though we are in the North Pole, but the situation will only stay like this for a few minutes, so that we will not freeze to death. There will be CCAs like working at animal rescue centers to help the abandoned animals.

Just like the airbus A380, I encourage Singapore to again be the first country to launch many other new things. Hopefully, a Singaporean might even be capable of inventing a new product that will be used worldwide. I really wish that Singapore will be able to win many more medals just like what our outstanding table tennis team of women did for us in 48 years. As for Tao Li, well, she did break an Asian record, so she does deserve some applause, doesn’t she? I am not saying that Tao Li did not do well. In fact, her performance was fabulous. After all, not every one is able to achieve that kind of standard. I am sure that there will be many more outstanding athletes who will continue to help Singapore to strive for another gold medal in the next Olympic Games.

The Paralympics games have ended not just long ago, and I am so proud of Singapore to have paralympians like Laurentia Tan and Yip Pin Xiu and of course, the other athletes. Frankly, I think the Paralympians are treated quite unfairly and should be rewarded the same amount of money as the Olympians of Singapore. The Paralympians are just as good as the Olympians, and should have the same treatment as the Olympians. I hope that Singapore will be the host of many more sports events in the future and will be known as one of the best countries in the world.

Singapore will also be a war-free and riot-free country. I know that even if we do get involved in a war, we would have learnt our lesson from World War 2 and be more prepared to defend our country.

Every single Singaporean will be treated with the same respect, including the cleaners who are helping us to make Singapore spick and span. Singaporeans will also be more considerate and give up their seats for the people who need them more while hitching a ride on a public transport. What I have realized is that when someone comes along and needs the seat more than we do, many people will just pretend to not notice them. Then, when they have found a seat somewhere else, these people will then act as though they had just woken up from a dream and did not know what had just happened.

Chefs, hawkers, housewives and even fathers can all come up with different types of appetizing dishes that will impress practically everyone. We, as children, might even be able to cook up a dish in the mist of an experiment which is edible and tastes good. If these delicacies are published into the market, we will soon see tourists smacking their lips and looking at the menu, saying, “Now, which one shall I have for my rumbling tummy?” By that time, Singapore will shine even more as a food city.

I have saved the best for the last. Here it is….The thing that I really want Singapore to do is for her to provide us with the four seasons, but naturally, the winter season would be the best and my favourite if you ask me. That way, polar bears and other artic animals will be able to stay in the Singapore Zoo, and we, the citizens will enjoy the weather much better too.

If Singapore is able to achieve all this things by the time I grow up, it will be a miracle, but as they say, nothing is impossible, right? If we can evolve from a small kampong village to a modern industry, why can’t we make more changes to make life better? I am sure that we will be able to achieve all these with the help of everyone. Even if Singapore cannot achieve these things, I will still love her!

When I grow up, I wish to see Singapore as a cleaner, greener and eco-friendly city with a higher population.  We will also be a leading IT country in South-east Asia.

Firstly, a more eco-friendly city.  The prices of hybrid and CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) will be cheaper. All transports  such as buses and taxis will be changed into hybrids or powered by CNG.

We will dispose our daily refuse differently.  We will sort them out before disposing them and there will be different refuse bins for them such as recyclable refuse and other refuse.  Recyclable refuse will be recycled.
Air-conditions are all run by eco-friendly gases.

Next,  I would like to see changes in the school.  We will not have to carry heavy bags to schools.  I hope to see more internet textbooks being used.  Presently, it is common for us to own calculators.  In 30 years time, it will be common for primary school children to carry a mini computer to school such as the UMPC or PDAs.    Most of our lessons will involve the use of the computers.   Instead of writing of exercise books, we will be writing  on our computers.  This way, less paper will be used.  In this way, the students’ bags will definitely be lighter.

Besides studying English, Mathematics and Science,  IT will be a compulsory subject in school.  We will need to know the use of computers as they will be found everywhere such as the use of vending machines to buy our food.

There will be more uses of the our EZ-link cards.  Besides using it to pay for the food and bus-fare, we can swap it when we enter the school.  The school is able to know if we are in school or not.

There will also be more varied types of  project works.  We also need not attend school every day. We can also study at home.  As all homes will have internet connection.

Finally, I wish to see more cures for terminal diseases such as heart attacks, cancers and strokes.  Presently the scientists are researching for ways to combat them.  This way, all of us can live longer and be happier.   We are also be health conscious and will take care of our health by exercising regularly and have balanced diet.

When I grow up, there are 3 main things that I wish that Singapore could improve on:

One, I wish that Singapore can be a more advance and well known country (for the right reasons, of course).

We can build a launch pad that could let spaceships take off. This will encourage more Singaporeans to become scientists exploring space (while I will be the astronaut, hehe).

Our airport should be the best in the world. All the terminals in Singapore will give welcome gifts for every tourist visiting such a wonderful country like Singapore (no expired items, though).

Also, to attract more tourists, the shopping centres will be full of entertainment to let everybody enjoy. The items we sell will be cheap and good (lelong…, lelong…).

Two, I wish Singaporeans will be more environmentally conscious and happy.

All our homes and cars should be solar powered, with the ability to store electricity for rainy days and nights (when there is no sun, you see).

We should reduce the number of cars on our roads. There will be more and longer trains that go everywhere in Singapore. The rides will be free as the government will pay for it (provided the government can afford it).

I wish Singapore will never have a poor person. All Singaporeans will be treated fairly. Everybody will have a job.

Three, I wish students can learn more interesting subjects when they are in lower primary.

Every student should learn science and history in primary one so that they can acquire more knowledge (and become brainy, brainy kids).

There should be more emphasis in sports as well. This will increase our chances of Olympic medals (then we can hear Mari Kita…). We should build a training place for every sport. Primary school kids who are determined to play the sport as their career can train in the training place.

Singaporeans should have a never-say-die spirit as all of us have something special in us like music, sports, science, history……
